The Strathpuffer 24
The Strathpuffer race is the world’s only 24h mountain bike race. It’s a gnarly one too, taking place in the Contin Forest, on the fringes of the Scottish Highlands. As endurance racing goes, it's right up there; this is the only race of its kind in winter conditions, said to take place during 17 hours of darkness, and it takes in a range of technical trails in pretty hardy conditions. The course is made up of 12.5km laps. Taking place annually, it's earned it's reputation for being one of the toughest MTB events in the world.
We’ve had several customers take part over the years. For the 2024 edition, Alpkit put forward a team from their Betws-y-coed store, headed up by Assistant Manager, Chris. Together, they made up a mens’ team of two, and a womens’ team of four. The six of them chose Firepot to keep their riders warm and energised over the course of their race.
The next edition of the Strathpuffer MTB will take place on January 11th and 12th 2025.
