Firepot Firsts, May 2024
In 2017, Firepot's founder set out to introduce the UK's first nutritionally balanced, ethically-sourced, and genuinely tasty meals for outdoor people. Since then, we have continued to show that we care about nutritional provenance, the environmental impact of our meals, and about the community we set out to serve. We became the first to try all-natural ingredients, to create a dried meal from freshly cooked ingredients, to refuse palm oil, and the first to introduce a compostable packaging option.
Our customers too are setting records for 'firsts' all over the world. But it's not only the people making front-page headlines that are worth celebrating. We also recognise that simple achievements are being made every day, by people of all ages, and all abilities: from a first camping trip to a first ultramarathon. A 'first' — in whatever guise — can belong to anyone.
.
Over the years, we have worked with Scouts groups, Cadets, and students taking on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and Ten Tors challenges. But not all schools can offer these programmes, creating unequal opportunities between young people with a curiosity for the outdoors.
'Firepot firsts' is our way of giving back. In May, we took a group of local Scouts on a weekend-long expedition across part of the Dorset ridgeway. In association with Turn Wild, the group tried their hand at navigation, honed basic camp and bushcraft skills, and got a chance to participate in a night walk.
If you know of someone who would benefit from participating from this fully-funded weekend — in 2025 and beyond — please get in touch.
